About this NVQ assessment

The ProQual Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting Occupations (Construction) qualification provides a nationally recognised qualification for those working in piling operations in the construction industry

Entry Requirements

An initial assessment plan will be carried out to identify your skills, experience and discuss the assessment plan. You must have previous experience in painting and decorating role and have sufficiently and suitable knowledge before you undertake this NVQ.
How long will my NVQ take to complete?

An assessment plan will be agreed during your Initial assessment/Induction and a planned end date agreed. However, we would expect your qualification to be complete with 8 weeks depending on the learner’s time availability.

Assessment contents & units

1. Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
2. Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
3. Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
4. Erecting and dismantling access/working platforms in the workplace

Unit Endorsements: One of the following endorsements required (i.e. own area of work):
• Decorative finishing
• Industrial painting
Plus two of the following endorsements required:
• Ladders/crawler/boards
• Step ladders/platform steps
• Proprietary towers
• Trestle platforms
• Mobile scaffold towers
• Proprietary staging/podiums

5. Preparing surfaces for painting and/or decorating in the workplace

Unit Endorsements: One of the following endorsements required:
• Decorative finishing
• Industrial painting

6. Applying surface coatings by brush and roller in the workplace

Unit Endorsements: One of the following endorsements required:
• Decorative finishing
• Industrial painting

The NVQ L6 Diploma in Construction Site Management qualifies the holder to apply for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) blue card for painter.
